According to the Key West Citizen, NOAA launched a mission to test deepwater fish for oil contamination in areas that are currently closed to fishing. According to the article, the study could reopen some areas if the fish prove not to be tainted. Lisa Natanson, the mission’s chief scientist will be the only one with access to the samples. “Everything is under lock and key,” said Natanson. “The fewer the people [with access] the better.”…….. Well I’m sleeping a little better now knowing that NOAA is on the job. Why I’ll bet there are millions of people around the country who never even thought of the possibility of tainted fish entering the market. Thank you NOAA! And we’ll be waiting with – ahem – baited breath, to see which areas are the first ones reopened to fishing.
