The State of Hawaii has banned the consumption of shark fins. According to the Miami Herald, ‘the state is attempting to help prevent the overfishing and extinction (there’s that scary word again) of sharks around the world’, and the bill passed the Hawaiian legislature with broad support……..Let’s see. Political posturing, or good fishery management? You’re allowed to harvest and eat the shark meat, but the fins must be discarded???.. I guess this fishery management business is just getting too complex for simple fishermen to understand.
