No Ban On Recreational Fishing

An article published by ESPN suggested the Obama administration was aiming to place a nationwide ban on recreational fishing. According to an administration spokesperson, the White House Council on Environmental Quality’s Interagency Policy Task Force, will be implementing ‘bottom up’ policy, and ‘has not recommended a ban on recreational fishing’. Well, that’s the kind of clear denial that ought to put everyone’s mind at rest.  Knowing the strength of the recreational industry first hand, and knowing how many votes they represent, it was hard to believe the report was anything more than a rumor.…Still, what does it tell us about our federal government, and the state of fishery management today, that so many people gave the report credibility…. Hmmm.
